A Letter from Dr. Perry Barnhill
As a chiropractor, I always realized the necessity to help patients, but I didn’t know how important the other essential pieces of running a successful chiropractic office were. I didn’t know how important it was to be HIPAA compliant or make sure my coding was accurate and notes documented properly. I had in been practice for several years when I got audited.
It was a nightmare. A particular insurance company wanted thousands of dollars and out of fear I nearly shut down my office. I hit rock bottom. I had many sleepless nights trying to figure out what to do next.
Instead of giving up, I realized it would be better to learn what I did not know. I went back and earned my additional coding, auditing, and compliance certifications. It was then that I realized all of the things I had been doing wrong!
I knew I couldn’t be the only chiropractor making these mistakes within their practice, so I began to make it my mission to help other chiropractors with their compliance, coding, and general documentation needs as well.
That’s how Fearless Chiropractor was born. I don’t want my peers in chiropractic to have to go through what I went through. Now, I want to protect, educate, and defend other chiropractors so we can continue growing our businesses while doing what we love best – helping patients feel better.
